Buck Up? Fuck You, President Obama.

Vice President Joe Biden told us liberals to “stop whining”. President Barack Obama told us to “buck up”.

They said that they were really working hard for us, and that we ought to be happy and give more of our money to their political allies. If we would just stop complaining, they said, Democrats wouldn’t have any trouble getting re-elected to majority control of the U.S. Congress.

With rude impatience, Biden and Obama have been dismissing the idea put forward by liberals like those of us here at Irregular Times that the Obama Administration has been characterized by a combination of 1) failure to push for the progressive policies the 2008 Obama campaign promised it would promote; 2) active support for the worst policies of George W. Bush that Obama promised he would change.

President Obama has lectured us that if we don’t line up behind him and stop challenging his authority, really terrible things will happen when the Republicans get more seats in Congress. Then, today, Obama proceeded to do a couple of the really terrible things that liberals worry about would happen if the Republicans were in control:

First, just a couple of months after the record-breaking Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling disaster spewed untold amounts of crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico, where it was mixed with toxic dispersants while the Obama Administration ordered a coverup of the true extent of the problem, President Obama ordered the expansion of offshore drilling to continue in dangerous deepwater conditions again – before scientists and investigators even fully understand what went wrong with BP’s operations in the first place.

Then, President Obama moved to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, which promotes discrimination against gays and lesbians, interfering with their equal marriage rights. Obama ordered the Department of Justice to appeal a decision by District Court Judge Joseph Tauro that the marriage discrimination is unconstitutional.

Buck up? Buck up?
Buck up?!?

No, I don’t think so. Why don’t you buck up, Mr. Obama, and fuck off while you’re at it.

If you seriously expect the American liberals who worked their asses off to put you in office, after years of working their asses off to put the Democratic Party in control of both houses of Congress, after years of working their asses off to resist the terrible policies of George W. Bush, are now going to stand back and put on happy faces while you and the Democrats in Congress keep on protecting and promoting those same terrible policies from the Bush years, you have got another goddamned thing coming, Mr. President.

We will stop whining when you and your Democratic colleagues get a fucking spine and stop acting like the Republicans you keep warning us about.

As long as you’re acting like part of the problem, we’re going to treat you like part of the problem, and oppose your cynical political maneuverings.

Your pretty speeches don’t work any more, Obama. Even you can’t pull off bald face lies in soaring tones anymore.
